CanadaPeter “Hooky” Hook (born February 13, 1956 in Salford, Greater Manchester, UK) was the bassist for the English post-punk band Joy Division (1977-1980), and New Order (1980-1993 & 1998-2007). Hook was a co-founder of Joy Division along with Bernard Sumner in 1976. Together, they recruited vocalist Ian Curtis and drummer Stephen Morris to complete the quartet. Of course it’s not the same,Ian Curtis was a one off genius with a very distinctive voice. Can’t people just appreciate the fact that Hooky is playing this to an audience that still loves to hear this classic? It’s not like he is chasing glory here bearing in mind he played on the original. UP THE SIKMEN!
For the haters: this is an homage to a hymn, to an era and to a band and a singer.

What I just love about this performance is his crusty seasoned voice, and the relentlessness, which changes the feel of the song, in a very good way. This is not the slip-the-knot-over-your-neck of the original (which is and will always be 100% awesome), this is endurance, however torn apart. When the audience shouts the chorus even louder, all the feels are firing.
