The group initially formed under the name Sahara Dust and later adopted the name Epica, inspired by Kamelot’s album of the same name. Their early sound combined symphonic metal with gothic influences, and over time they incorporated elements of death metal, progressive metal, thrash metal, groove metal, black metal-inspired drumming techniques

It's interesting how Epica and Within Temptation are Dutch bands, and Nightwish is a Finnish band. Basically the whole symphonic metal genre is in Northern Europe. Must be the air or something.
Metal is such a wide genre. You have aggressive thrash, slow ballads, symphonic metal. One of the widest genres of music out there for sure.

Almost 12 years later and this is still one of the best music videos Ive ever seen. In my book, it would've won a grammy back when it was released.
